Structural Design Project Manager

We are currently seeking one full-time Structural Design Project Manager. A successful candidate will have licensure as a Wisconsin Professional Engineer and have relevant experience designing Wisconsin State, County, Municipal and Township transportation structural infrastructures. Project experience should include familiarity with the WisDOT and local program process including experience with working on the design of transportation structures including: bridges, culverts, box culverts, and retaining walls. Additionally, a proven proficiency with utility and agency coordination as well as creating project reports including environmental and design study reports is required.

Required Experience

  • BS in Civil Engineering

  • Professional Engineer License in Wisconsin

  • 2 years of licensed transportation project design experience in Wisconsin preferred

  • Demonstrated project management and administrative experience

  • Ability to manage project and staff independently

  • Demonstrated competency to manage workflow of other engineers, interns and designers

Professional Land Surveyor

We are currently seeking a full-time Professional Land Surveyor. We are looking for a registered surveyor to efficiently and effectively collaborate with our design staff on transportation, municipal, development and architectural projects. This person will conduct land records research in addition to collect, compute and process field data for the following: boundary, topographic, ALTA/ACSM, right of way plats, transportation project plats, subdivision plats, certified survey maps and design survey information. Supervision of construction staking and proper monumentation is also a function of this position.  This person will assist in the preparation of proposals and cost estimates.

The ideal candidate will keep clear and concise project records and files, while demonstrating the ability to work independently and within a team of professionals. This position will require a professional who takes initiative, is self-motivated and has a desire to be challenged.

  • Registered Professional Land Surveyor in the State of Wisconsin or ability to become registered within 3 months of employment.

Land Surveyor Technician

We are currently seeking a full-time Land Surveyor Technician who has experience with Total Station and GPS surveying equipment and AutoCAD software.

The ideal candidate will keep clear and concise project records and files, while demonstrating the ability to work independently and within a team of professionals. This position will require a professional who takes initiative, is self-motivated and has a desire to be challenged.

Bridge Inspector

 

We are currently seeking a full-time or part-time bridge inspector. A successful candidate must be registered as a certified bridge inspector, with team leader status. Must have experience inspecting all structure configurations found in Wisconsin. This position will include responsibility for conducting and reporting regular bridge inspections for our County and Township clients.

Required Experience

  • Certified Bridge Inspector

  • Professional Engineer License in Wisconsin - preferred, but not required

  • Proficient in a civil engineering sub-discipline - preferred, but not required

Senior Transportation Engineer - Roundabouts

 

We are currently seeking a full-time Transportation Design Engineer for highway transportation project management and design including roundabout design. A successful candidate must be registered as a Wisconsin Professional Engineer and have experience designing Wisconsin State, County, Municipal and Township transportation infrastructures projects. Project experience should include the design of new highway roadways, reconditioning of existing highways, intersections and roundabouts, construction staging, erosion control and storm water management as it is related to highways, bridge approaches and familiarity with right of way and construction. Additionally, a proven proficiency with utility and agency coordination as well as creating project reports including environmental and design study reports is necessary.

Requirements and Responsibilities

  • BS in Civil Engineering

  • Professional Engineer License in Wisconsin

  • Minimum of 8 years of transportation project design and project management experience in Wisconsin

  • Perform and/or supervise plan production as related to transportation design project in Wisconsin.

  • Contract preparation and negotiation.

  • Design roundabouts in Wisconsin as a Qualified Roundabout Designer – Level 1 or higher.

  • Perform client meetings to discuss project requirements, explain work, etc.

  • Experience with Public Informational Meeting and ability to show the benefits of any proposed roundabout if included in the project.

  • Experience with advanced AutoCAD Civil 3D and 3D modeling.

  • Proficient in the use of the Wisconsin Facilities Development Manual for project development

  • Familiarity with NCHRP guidelines

  • Plan, report, and specification production skills

  • Desire to produce a quality product and be detail-oriented.

We are currently seeking a full-time Transportation Design Engineer. Real Estate Negotiator

We are currently seeking one full-time Real Estate Negotiator. A successful candidate will have familiarity with the Wisconsin DOT Real Estate Program Manual and experience with negotiating for real estate acquisition associated with transportation engineering projects. Project experience should include familiarity with the WisDOT process and familiar with the Local Public Agency Real Estate Program. (Of addition benefit will be experience with working on the design and/or construction of highway roadway project in Wisconsin.) A proven proficiency with creating documentation related to right of way acquisition is required.

An individual who is interested in an entry level position with the goal of developing these skills and experience will be considered for the position of Real Estate Services Assistant.

Required Experience

  • Associates Degree (Civil Engineering, Administrative Assistant, etc.)

  • Certified Real Estate Negotiator in the state of Wisconsin preferred

  • Preferred to hold the Senior Right-of-Way Designation (SR/WA) in the International Right-of-Way Association or attain within 3 years of hire.

  • Ability to read roadway design plans, familiarity with elements of roadway projects and ability to assess their related influence on properties

  • Must be able to work in a team environment with other Jewell staff, landowners, clients, Wisconsin DOT

  • Proficient in the application of the Wisconsin DOT Real Estate Program Manual and related documents

  • Working knowledge of property descriptions, deeds and other property conveyances, maps and engineering plans

  • Working knowledge of negotiation techniques, as well as experience with the public and government jurisdictions.

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Teams, etc.)

  • Valid Driver’s License

Civil Engineer Group Leader

We are currently seeking a full-time Civil Engineering Group Leader with management experience to direct and lead a group of civil engineering project managers.  This individual will have the responsibility to manage and market growth of public and private civil engineering projects. One position is available in our Spring Green office or in our Madison office.

Jewell works with clients to design a broad range of civil/site projects. We are looking for a seasoned professional engineer with excellent communication skills and problem-solving engineering experience and judgment to lead this effort. This person will be engaged in the marketing and planning of engineering projects, project design and construction management for a variety of civil/site projects. This work will include design engineering and construction observation for street and roadway construction, site development, storm water management and site grading and erosion control.  The position will also provide general municipal consulting.  

Required Experience

  • BS in Civil Engineering and have current licensure as a Wisconsin Professional Engineer with the ability to obtain licensure in other states as needed

Transportation Construction Leader/Inspector

We are currently seeking a full-time Construction Leader/Inspector to work as a construction leader/inspector of roadway, bridge and miscellaneous transportation and municipal projects with occasional duties in the office as a designer for transportation and municipal projects. This person must have completed a BS in Civil Engineering and be on the path to licensure, if not already a licensed Wisconsin Professional Engineer. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction inspection of bridges, roadways and municipal projects and the ability to assist with the design of transportation and/or municipal infrastructure projects, outside of the construction season.  Project experience should include the construction of new highway roadways, reconditioning of existing highways, intersections and roundabouts, construction staging, erosion control and storm water management as it is related to highways, bridge approaches, right of way, and construction. A proven proficiency with agency and utility coordination and the ability to work with the public is a must.

  • 5 year minimum experience of transportation project construction inspection in Wisconsin

  • Experience in transportation and/or municipal infrastructure design
